I absolutely loved my time in Telluride. The city just screams old west, but the food we had there was anything but old fashioned. This food town has a lot of great options, and below are a few we loved:
Dining with a View
Allred's is a fantastic option for taking in mountain views. The wall of windows at the restaurant offer prime viewing of the city's beautiful landscape. The restaurant it located up the mountain, via a gondola, and is part of the Telluride Ski Resort. Here you can enjoy the bourbon marinated elk loin, colorado rack of lamb or the dry aged bison ribeye. The menu also includes a few fish dishes such as Hawaiian tuna. The restaurant also features a 3 course vegetarian tasting menu!.
Great Choices for Family
The Black iron is located in the amazing Mountain Village area, in the Madeline (an Auberge Hotel). This area is like it's own little upscale city, and is a must stop location. Whether you're looking for breakfast, lunch or dinner, this restaurant will not disappoint.
Smuggler Union is located in Telluride, and offers a light and airy restaurant option that is perfect for families. The adult menu features a wide range of options from pan seared chicken breast and flat iron steak frites to slow roasted BBQ ribs and a honey cured bacon burger. The kids menu is spectacular! It has amazing options that any kid will love.
If you're looking for some amazing pizza, this is your spot. Brown Dog Pizza won first place in the Pizza World Championship in 2015 in Parma, Italy. They became the first American to ever win! That's pretty awesome. If you have some in your party looking for something else, the menu includes subs and wraps. They also offer a couple gluten-free pizza options, a Detroit style and a Roman style.
Fine Dining Options
Top Chef alum Eliza Gavin runs this high end option located in the downtown area. The more intimate restaurant has both indoor and outdoor dining available, and both a meat and vegetarian menu. Enjoy the Rocky Mountain trout or the wagyu NY strip from the meat menu of try the homemade gnocchi of the smoked tofu with salsa verde and black garlic jus from the veggie side.
Located in the New Sheridan Hotel, the Chop House is an upscale dining option that is set right in the middle of the city. The building was built in 1895 and has a real old west feel to it. The menu features a filet mignon, chicken cordon bleu, a scottish salmon and a vegetable pappardelle.
