Hotel Highlight: Belmond Reid’s Palace

posted in: Travel 0

If you want a little adventure, then you might look into a trip to the Belmond Reid's Palace. It's located on Madeira, which is an island in the Atlantic Ocean, about 320 miles west of Morocco, and 250 miles north of the Canary Islands. The island, an autonomous region of Portugal, is actually the top of a large volcano (don't worry, it last erupted 6,500 years ago.) This is a perfect vacation for anyone that wants to pair the ocean with mountain hikes, and Reid's Palace is the perfect place from which to explore.

This is a great destination for couples as well as small families (they even have a kids club.)

Accommodations

The accommodations at Reid's palace include 158 rooms and suites.

The entry level is a Classic room, which for when I checked pricing (April 2020) ran for $435 (USD) per night, which included all taxes, fees, wifi and daily breakfast. The room has a max occupancy of 2.

The Deluxe Sea View holds 3 people but runs $664 per night (including all fees and taxes.)

If you're looking to upgrade to a suite, the Jr. Suite offers up to 400 sq ft of space, but the cost is $1,300. The suites, offering the best views and most space can range from $1,400 to $1,800 per night.

Dining

Dining at Reid's will be a highlight.

The Michelin-starred William Restaurant, you'll be able to soak up the amazing views of the ocean while enjoy a menu focused on seasonal offerings.

If you're in the mood for Italian, head to Ristorante Villa Cipriani where you'll be treated to the same views of the Atlantic while you dine.

Activities

As far as activities go, you can:

Relax at the spa

Play tennis (2 courts on property)

Take a mountain hike

Enjoy a sunrise above the clouds (Belmond's staff will take you to the highest peak in Jeeps for the sunrise)

Head out for a cruise (there are a variety of watersports on the island)

Take a dip in the pool

Learn from a botanical workshop

I hope you enjoyed this hotel highlight! If you do end up going, please let them know that I sent you, and don't forget to subscribe!
