As a Browns fan, it hurts to admit this, Cincinnati is an awesome city. It is. The city sits right on the Ohio River, and with the many bridges (even 1 for pedestrians), it's a beautiful place. There's also a ton of activities to do while in town, like the Newport aquarium, the zoo or watching a Bengals/Reds game.
Boca is an elegant dining experience that focuses on French/Italian cuisine. Here, you can enjoy dishes like gnocchi fonduta, beef wellington and amish chicken. Boca can also offer gluten-free and vegetarian options.
Ok, I have a soft spot for Morton's. It's a fantastic steakhouse that serves aged steak from its location in the Carew Tower, which overlooks Fountain Square. The steak I had was cooked to perfection and we fell in love with a bottle of pinot noir while there. It was during an anniversary trip, and totally lived up to our expectations. The menu includes Prime Porterhouse, Prime New York Strip, Filet Mignon, Prime Ribeye or the Angus Prime Flank Steak Chimichurri. They just have a ton of options. If you're not in the mood for beef, they have a variety of seafood or chicken dishes.
Located just north of the downtown area, Nicola's offers contemporary Italian dishes. The raised ceilings and exposed brick walls create an intimate setting. The menu includes meals such as Chicken Involtini, Seared Lamb Rack, Mezzaluna alla Sorrentina and Maccheroni Tre Formaggi.
Cincinnati Dinner Train
Looking for a unique dining experience? Try dining in the Cincinnati Dinner Train. This dining experience operates almost every Saturday of the year and is for adults and children 12 and older. Sit back and relax as the world goes by while enjoying a four course meal.
Orchids at Palm Court
Orchids at Palm Court is Ohio's only AAA Five Diamond and Forbes Four Star restaurant. It's located in the Hilton Cincinnati Neverland Plaza, near the center of town. The bright and airy dining space is straight from a magazine, and the food is exceptional. The menu offers dry aged duck breast, Rabbit trio, monk fish and chateaubriand.
Cooper's Hawk is a chain restaurant that celebrates its own winery. You can enjoy a wonderful meal here or just a tasting. The menu features dishes like braised short ribs, BBQ pork chop and blackened Ahi tuna, and you can include a flight of wine as well. The restaurant is located in the Kenwood shopping area, which is about 10 - 15 minutes northeast of the city.
Moerlein Lager House
The restaurant is located near Smale Riverfront Park, and provides outstanding views of the River. They have a kids menu and since it's a large space (and it's loud), you don't have to worry about the kids being too crazy. The dinner menu includes BBB baby back ribs, smoked pork belly, steak frites, rotisserie half chicken, Thai garlic tofu and squash wellington.
Montgomery Inn Boathouse
The Montgomery Inn serves mouthwatering BBQ in a family friendly environment. The restaurant is located on the edge of the Ohio River and offers unobstructed views of the water. At the Montgomery Inn you can order from a variety of BBQ potions like brisket, pork, chicken and more.
Skyline is something that I will always recommend. It's so unique that it's worth the try. We had a skyline on campus at college (and my roommate worked there), so we would go often. The chili here is different than most I've tried due to the seasoning (which includes spices like cinnamon.) You can order pasta with chili, chili dogs (my fav) or just have the chili.
BB River Boats dinner cruise
I love dinner cruises, it's my thing. The Family Dinner Cruise starts boarding at 5:30PM, then you sail from 6:30PM to 8:30PM. You'll sail along the Ohio River while enjoying a fantastic dinner buffet. You'll be able to take in views of the skyline from the water.
Dining with a View
Incline Public House
This laid back gastropub is located just to the West of the downtown area. From its elevated position, you'll get sweeping views of the skyline and river below. When the weather is nice, the restaurant has a large deck space where you can enjoy your meal. The menu includes pizzas, sandwiches (including burgers) and a number of other pub-style food.
Located atop of the hills directly West of the city, Primavista offers spectacular views. You'll enjoy some of the best Italian cuisine in the city while gazing out over the city. The menu features several Italian classics.
The Newport / Northern Kentucky area is directly across the river from Cincinnati. This side of the River has several hotels that offer views of the Cincinnati skyline, the Newport aquarium and restaurants. The Chart House is located within this area, and offers amazing views of the city. The menu is seafood forward but does have a number of options. For those brave enough, you can walk from Cincinnati to Newport via the pedestrian bridge that crosses the Ohio River.
