Banana Spinach Smoothie

This is a fantastic MIND diet recipe, as well an intro to smoothies. All the ingredients in the recipe (spinach, walnuts, maple syrup) have some role in the MIND Diet, which is specifically trying to keep the mind well nourished. I think it tastes like a banana smoothie, which is awesome.

  • 1 Cup Greek yogurt plain
  • 1 Cup Spinach
  • 1 Banana
  • 2 Tablespoons Walnuts
  • 1/2 Tablespoons Maple Syrup
  • 4 Tablespoons Water

  • Well, this is the easy part, just add everything to a blender and blend until smooth. That's it!

For the maple syrup, use the real stuff. I'm team Mrs. Butterworth's, believe me, if my pancakes aren't swimming in the stuff, I'm not interested, but here, the real stuff works better.
Why walnuts? Well, again there's a link between walnuts and dementia prevention, but is that all to consider? I think it works best for texture. I tried to use Almonds, and it was too chewy. I tried flax seeds and again it had too much of a bite. Walnuts seem so to blend to a smoother consistency. But play with it, somedays I do like the almonds.
