On the the northern shores of Isle of Palms, South Carolina, is one of the most family friendly resorts on the east coast, the Wild Dunes Resort. Located 30 minutes north of Charleston, this sprawling resort is huge! It has several accommodation options, making it an ideal location for anything from a couple's getaway to a large family reunion. Want to get married on the beach? They’ve gotcha covered.

If you're interested in staying at the Boardwalk Inn. Summer time rates (I checked July costs on 5/29/17) are around $330. If you want to wait until the shoulder and go in September rates drop to $225 per night. Looking for something cheaper, head down in the March/April time frame when prices fall below $200/night.This would be ideal for a couple traveling, or a small family.

If you wanted to stay in something a little bigger, you can stay at The Village at Wild Dunes which offers options anywhere from a standard room to a 3 bedroom suite. The Village Studio Suite is a wonderful option as it has a small kitchenette and a washer and dryer. I’m the neurotic traveler who hates sand in the hotel room (please don’t judge me), so having a washer and dryer to clean towels and swimsuits is like a jackpot for me.

Say you want to travel with multiple families, how about a condo? There are over 150 condos to chose from, ranging from 1-4 bedrooms. Doing a quick search of the properties for summer and a 2 bedroom is going for about $450/night, and this is ocean front. Another option get a 3 bedroom at $475/night with another family, and that cost per night just dropped to $237 for each family. Want to wait for the shoulder (October or March), prices drop to around $330/night. Maybe three couple split the cost and each ends up paying $110/night. I'm just throwing out options to help generate ideas.

And finally, if you have a large party, a house rental could be the perfect solution. Ideal for a family that wants space, multiple families traveling together, a family reunion, or maybe for a bridal party leading up to the wedding, a vacation house fits so many needs. If you're traveling with kids, maybe a 3 bedroom house for $483/night would be an option for you? That same house would cost $160/night if you have 3 couple traveling together. Need more space? I saw a 5 bedroom for $712/night. I know it sounds like a lot, but maybe there's 3 families splitting the cost, that's $237/night, a little more reasonable. This would be great for a golf getaway. Split the $712 4 ways and you're at $178/night. Want to save even more, again, travel during the shoulder. Head down in March, and you can rent a 6 bedroom house for $389!

What is there to do there you ask? A ton. I’ll start with the 2 golf courses, the Links Course and the Harbor Course. I played the Links and, though it kicked my butt, I thought it was spectacular (I suck at golf, so that’s not saying much) Coming down the 18th fairway with the ocean beside you, it's an amazing way to end the round.

For all you tennis lovers, this place has you covered. Tennis magazine has ranked wild dunes as a top 10 tennis resort for nine years straight! They offer complimentary access to 17 courts (1 stadium), and 5 are lit for night play.

If you’re tired after golf and tennis, head over to the spa to relax. The spa offers everything from a quick fix facial to honey magnolia massage.

There are a number of activities you can do, such as taking a dip in the pool, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing, etc. Have little ones enroll them in the kids club. The point here is that you will never get bored.

Dining in? Wild dunes offers several laid back dining options. Coastal provisions, the signature restaurant, is the place if you’re looking for a steak, pork chops, the catch of the day. In the mood for some BBQ, head over to Billy G’s smokehouse. For a taste of some southern fare, try Huey’s southern eats. And if you wanted to head into Charleston, it's only a 30 minute drive away.

And as mentioned earlier, they do have event space, so a beach wedding would be a spectacular option here. Starting with the first look at the water’s edge, ceremony under the palms, and then dance the night away under the stars. What a perfect way to start your life together.

I hope you enjoyed this hotel highlight! If you do end up going, please let them know that I sent you, and don't forget to subscribe!
