Okay I have to admit something, I love the idea fanny packs. That said, my kids have very firmly insisted that I never put one on again. "But they're so convenient!" I mean, whenever you need anything, it's right there in front of you. Need a napkin? Oh, I've got one right here. Oh, someone sneezed, I brought tissues, it's right here in the pack. Need extra cash, mini flashlight, multi tool? I've got you covered. But instead I get, "No Dad, Nah." And that's from the 4 year old.
I humor my kids and leave the pack at home at all times, unless it's when we're traveling. My travel version of a fanny pack more sleek and inconspicuous. The Waist Stash sold by Lewis N. Clark is definitely the one I would recommend. It's a wonderful security device you wear under your clothes.
I first wore something like this on my honeymoon and I recommend it to anyone traveling. It's under your clothes, so you don't have to worry about pickpockets stealing your wallet with all your information because they have no clue it's there. If there's something very valuable you don't want to leave in a hotel room (passport?), stick it in there and you'll be safe.
Whenever you needed to grab something, it was easy to access. If you're a worrier like me, I would definitely recommend this product because it's going to keep your information and funds safe. It even has RFID-blocking technology to keep you protected. I hope this helps in your travels!!
